Description

Ok, so, after I made my horrendous: [link] , I was about ready to stab myself in the foot. Truly. I needed to do something, so I made this.

I had so much fun just doing this. I really let out all my feelings of how upset I was about that painting. And you want to know what? Afterwards I went and looked back at my painting and just started to laugh. I mean, I truly just laughed and laughed. Sure, it is crap, I admit that. But it is my piece of crap.

And this I again started to laugh, because what was I expecting? To be absolutely perfect on the first try, to be instantly the next Michaelangelo? I laughed again, because I realized I had been hoping for that. I had been so sure my work be wonderful and great and fantastic on the first try. I wanted it to be, because then I'd would know I had found something I was naturally good at and didn't have to read anything about or learn about. NOTHING IS LIKE THAT!

Really, this is so refreshing. It reminds me of what happened to a friend of mine. She is in an art class at school, and one of the projects was to create a collage or whatnot of your life. When she turned her's in, and it had loads of pictures of her friends (some she took, and some we took of each other being complete nut cases. MIKE N' IKES FOREVER!), and her art teacher said it 'wasn't deep enough.' Deep? Deep? Life isn't MEANT to be deep! Sure, you can go around thinking that life is this huge thing of utter empending doom or whatever, but it ISN'T! It is what you make of it, and her collage was deep. It was deep in that it showed people she cared about, and it showed her life. Everyone's life is different. But really, and it is like the excellent cartoonist *Windy999 says: Remember not to take life too seriously! You don't get long on this earth so enjoy it! AND DO ENJOY IT! I mean, sure, you can have everything be HUGE and DEEP and everything, but why though? If you look at something, and someone says it isn't 'thought-provoking' YES it is! EVERYTHING you think or see or feel or smell gives you thought, and EVERYTHING is thought-provoking!

Something is only deep if you think it is. So this piece, this piece I made out of pure frustration, out of me hating the work I had done, has really made my day. Not only am I now able to laugh at my El Gato, but this piece right here I can treasure and always remember to keep me smiling, and if things are so serious in life (which sometimes they are) I can still always be able to find laughter in it all.

So go ahead, think about this piece. It can mean layers of depth to you, or it can mean a day at the park. Whatever! You can decide on your own, for beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and so is your opinion.

OH! And as for what it is made out of...a bit of everything!
Mediums: Acrylic paint, red tissue paper, velvet fabric, a lemon leaf (go Alice!), some cross-stitching thread, a random leaf from a weed behind the shed, glue, a dead leaf, rafia, glitter, dirt, grass, tape, daisy petals, some moss, sweat, a bit of blood, water, some salt and sugar, turpentine, a whole lot of laughter, love, hate, sadness, happiness, relief, regret, and laughter!
Size: 6 inches by 9 inches, roughly. INDEED!

A FULL VIEW IS A MUST! How else are you going to see the little details which make it so interesting?
